Soul Clinic: An Introduction

If I had to describe Soul Clinic in one line at a dinner party, I’d probably say something like:

“Soul Clinic is a depth-oriented online talk therapy service, specialising in psychedelic integration and life transitions.”

But like the clients we work with, Soul Clinic has layers and depth—much of it still unfolding—and we expect the work to keep evolving. What follows is a glimpse into where we’ve come from, and what guides our practice today.

Why Soul Clinic Exists

Soul Clinic was borne partly out of frustration with modern psychology—and its tendency to be a little too sure of itself. Yes, CBT works. We know this. But works by what measure? Too often it means that symptoms are reduced, functioning improves, and people can return to their daily lives.

Valuable? Absolutely. For many, it is life-changing.

But the fact that something reduces symptoms or restores functioning doesn’t mean the deeper questions have been touched. And it certainly doesn’t mean we’ve unravelled the mysteries of the human psyche—the most complex phenomenon in the known universe.

What about meaning?

What about identity?

What about the unconscious forces shaping our lives?

There is a place for symptom relief, but should it be considered the gold standard of care? Human beings are not machines to be recalibrated into productivity. We are meaning-seeking, story-making, spiritual creatures. And to reduce psychotherapy to distress tolerance and symptom management risks neglecting the profound dimensions that make us who we are. (If you’re interested, click here to read a recently published scientific article on why we need to look beyond symptom relief as a primary criterion for recovery.)

In any case, it seems we’ve veered far from the original meaning of the word psychology—the study of the psyche. In Ancient Greece, psyche meant soul.

What We Offer

At Soul Clinic, we aim to restore this wider lens by offering:

  1. A spiritual dimension. We expand the traditional biopsychosocial model to include the spiritual—honouring the deeper layers of meaning, mystery, and connection that shape human life. (More on this here and here.)

  2. A focus on wholeness over wellness. While reducing suffering matters, we recognise that true progress may not always feel good. Our work is not about chasing comfort, but about walking with you through the difficult, disorienting, and ultimately transformative process of becoming whole.

  3. A pathway toward individuation. Therapy, for us, is not only about healing wounds but about helping people meet their fullest potential. We support clients to live authentically, aligned with their values, and engaged with life in a meaningful way.

Psychedelics and Depth Psychology

Soul Clinic was also inspired by the remarkable research emerging in the psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy field—and by our own (legal) transformative encounters with these substances.

Depth psychology, with its focus on the unconscious, symbolic meaning, and the process of individuation, feels like the most natural partner for psychedelic integration. Psychedelic experiences often bring archetypal imagery, emotional intensities, and profound shifts in perspective—phenomena that depth psychology has been attuned to for over a century.

Rather than pathologising these experiences or reducing them to neurochemical events, depth psychology offers a framework to honour them as meaningful encounters with the psyche—and to support the slow, necessary task of weaving those insights into everyday life.

It gives us a language for dreams, symbols, and shadow material, while also grounding us in the practical work of integration: reshaping relationships, choices, and identity in light of what has been revealed.

Beyond Psychedelics

When we use the word psychedelic in its broadest sense, we mean any “mind-manifesting” experience—whether that’s a near-death encounter, a profound retreat, a brush with the numinous, or another moment that radically alters your perception of self, other, and world.

In our work, we’ve seen that clients often need just as much integration support after intense interpersonal events as they do after psychedelic journeys. Moral injury is one striking example—an experience that shakes the foundations of identity and values, demanding careful unpacking and reorientation.

And of course, in one sense, we are always integrating. Every new experience reshapes us. But some thresholds are heavier to carry, more disorienting to navigate, and harder to metabolise alone.

Those are the moments when guided integration makes all the difference—helping you carry what feels too heavy, orient to what feels too confusing, and metabolise what once seemed impossible.

Stepping Into the Work

If any of this resonates, you may already be standing at one of those threshold moments yourself. The path forward can feel uncertain, but you don’t have to walk it alone.

At Soul Clinic, we offer a space to pause, reflect, and begin weaving what you’ve experienced into the fabric of your life. It’s not about rushing to feel better or returning to “normal”—it’s about moving toward a life that feels authentic, meaningful, and whole.
